Question 1
It seems that most of the people surveyed watch music videos on Youtube which is great news since it's really easy to upload videos to. I am in the same age range as our target audience and I also watch music videos on Youtube as it is popular and easy to access so this result didn't really surprise me.
Question 2
I'm glad that 100% of the people surveyed said that they enjoyed listening to music so this means that it will be highly likely that they will consider listening to and watching our music video, as well as buying our pigipak.
Question 3
YouTube and Spotify were two of the most favoured ways of listening to music when it came to the people we surveyed. YouTube is a great way to connect with out audience as it is very easy to upload to and get feedback from the comments. Not only will the song be publicised but the video can also be watched which will give us a larger audience since some people evjoy watching music videos as well as listening to the song. That is one way YouTube differs from Spotify as on Spotify the only visuals you get is the album cover. Most people (including myself) use Spotify on their mobile devices since they made it into a simple app with is accessible from anywhere you can get wifi or 3G/4G. I think the best way to start to get people to listen/view our song would be to upload it to Youtube.
Question 4
We got quite a mixed result for this question with 5/20 people sating that they don't download music at all and the people who do download music use a wide range of programmes. iTunes was the app which seemed to be the most popular amongst our sample of people with iTube and Spotify in 2nd place. Personally I use Spotify since you can get songs legally and for free. Many people download songs illegally from the internet which is awful since the artists and institutions in which the songs come from won't receive any profit. To prevent this I think it would be a good idea to promote the song on iTunes since it deemed most popular in our survey. We could also put it on multiple other aps such as Spotify and YouTube.
Question 5
This question was quite startling for Amy, Morgan and I since we are trying to advertise and sell a digipak and a music video. If more than half of our audience doesn't buy CD's we are going to have to find a way to encourage them to consider buying one, especially ours. After the survey we asked a few people who answered "no", "What would make you want to actually buy a CD?", the results were as follows... "They're just too expensive, I'd rather just go on iTunes and buy the 3 or 4 songs I want from the album rather than just the whole thing"; "They're a waste of money, I only like a few of the songs on them anyway, so it just depends what's on the CD"; "I don't need to buy CD's when I can get them all on Spotify"; "I agree, like I need to know a lot of the songs if I'm going to buy a CD". So in conclusion to this it appears that the songs on the album have a lot to do with whether or not people want to buy the CD. To encourage people to buy it, we could list some of Sophia's more well known songs in a larger or bolder font than the others. The promotional poster for the digipak will also have to be clear of what songs are actually on it by using flashy fonts and unique colours.
